These topics are generic guidelines of the scope of articles published in the JITM. When submitting an article online please select one or more of these topics to facilitate the review process.

  1. Management of Information Systems (IS functional view of information systems problems and opportunities)

    • A1. Systems development - the development of information systems, prototyping, CASE tools, DB design, 4th GL, Object Orientation.
    • A2. Telecommunications and networking - design and planning. Mobile computing. Internet technologies, Electronic commerce, Network and Internet security.
    • A3. IS operations and control - the operations and efficiency of information systems and technologies, systems personnel productivity, charge-out systems, DB administration, network administration, management of systems support, auditing.
    • A4. IS policies and strategy - the planning and effectiveness of information systems and technologies, IT and strategy. ERP and packages as part of the strategic decision-making. Incremental and global outsourcing. Cloud Computing.

  2. Management through Information Systems (end-user/managerial view of information systems problems and opportunities)

    • B1. Human aspects - the impact of information technology on people and organizations and behavioral considerations of information technology management.
    • B2. Decision support and expert systems - end-user systems development to support decision-making, traditional DSS development to support end-user decision making, including GDSS and EIS. Also expert systems development and applications.
    • B3. Accounting information systems, performance measurement systems, planning and control systems, security controls, including compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
    • B4. Management of end-user systems - planning, operations, efficiency and effectiveness of end-user systems, help-desk, LAN administration, hardware and software acquisition, end-user packages. Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

A manuscript submitted in the JITM Online Review System require topic(s) selection. Reviewers will be assigned based on the topic(s) selected.
